For open source maintainers

One page for everything you maintain

Libraries, CLIs, frameworks and the side project with three stars. Each with a status, tags and a clear way to support your work.

Beyond the pinned repos

GitHub lets you pin six repositories. Most maintainers have more than that, plus docs sites, a blog, talks and the occasional hosted product. makerhandle gives each one a card with a description, tags like Rust, TypeScript or CLI, and a link to the repo or docs.

The Terminal template renders your page as a shell session: whoami, cat about.md, ls projects/. It is a small joke that developers get immediately. See the Terminal template.

Be clear about maintenance

Open source has a status problem. People open issues on projects you stopped maintaining years ago. Give each project an honest status:

  • Active: maintained, PRs welcome
  • Building: early, expect breaking changes
  • On hold: paused, no promises
  • Discontinued: archived, use a fork
  • Acquired: handed to a foundation or company

It saves you a few "is this dead?" issues and helps users choose wisely.

Make support easy to find

Add your GitHub Sponsors, Open Collective or a paid support offer as a project, so it sits right next to the work it funds. Analytics show how many visitors click it, from where.

If you run a paid hosted version or support plan through Stripe, connect a read-only key and show verified revenue. It is optional, and plenty of maintainers leave it off.

Cheap enough to forget about

Free covers five projects. Pro is $20 a year for unlimited projects, all templates and a custom domain like oss.yourname.dev with automatic SSL. No build step, no CI, nothing to update when a dependency changes. See makerhandle for developers.
