For a personal website
A personal website for $20 a year
If you want yourname.com to show who you are and what you make, you may not need a website builder at all. makerhandle Pro hosts your page on your domain.
What you actually get
Be clear about what this is: makerhandle hosts your makerhandle page on your domain. That page has your photo, name, location, a Markdown bio, your socials, your projects and an optional subscribe box, laid out by one of seven templates.
It is not general web hosting. You cannot upload HTML files, run WordPress or add extra pages. For many people that is exactly right: the personal site they meant to build was always "who I am, what I make, how to reach me".
The cost, compared
- makerhandle Pro: $20 a year, custom domain and SSL included.
- Squarespace: Basic is $19 a month billed annually ($25 month to month), so around $228 a year.
- Wix: the Light plan is about $18 a month billed annually in the US.
- Carrd: Pro Standard, the tier with custom domains, is $19 a year, and you design the page yourself.
You still buy the domain itself from a registrar, typically $10 to $20 a year for a .com. Prices from public pricing pages and 2026 guides; check each site for current numbers. More detail in how to host a personal website for $20 a year.
Setup in minutes
- Build your page on the free plan at makerhandle.com/yourname.
- Upgrade to Pro and type your domain in Settings.
- Add the CNAME record the editor shows you at your DNS provider.
- Wait for the status to turn active. SSL is issued automatically.
A subdomain like me.yourname.com works with any DNS provider. A root domain like yourname.com needs CNAME flattening or an ALIAS record. See custom domain.
Better than a static page
Unlike a page you host yourself, makerhandle comes with cookie-free analytics, an email subscribe box, verified revenue from Stripe or Shopify, a theme builder, and pages served fast from Cloudflare's edge network. Nothing to update, patch or renew, including the SSL certificate.
If you outgrow it, point the domain elsewhere. You own the domain, so you keep your address.
