Bento alternative

A Bento alternative for makers

Bento.me closed in February 2026. If you liked its grid, makerhandle has a Bento template that lays out your projects, revenue and socials as tiles.

What happened to Bento

Bento (bento.me) was owned by Linktree and shut down on February 13, 2026. Before closing, users could export their page content as a zip file. Bento links now redirect to Linktree, and Linktree offered users a migration path.

If you had a Bento page, any link to it in your bios, posts or email signature now leads somewhere else. That is worth fixing even if you do nothing else: check X, Instagram, LinkedIn, GitHub, YouTube, your newsletter footer and any old posts you can still edit.

What Bento did well

Bento was popular for good reasons. Its grid layout made a link in bio feel like a personal homepage rather than a list of buttons, with tiles of different sizes for links, images and embeds. Many makers and developers liked that it felt more personal and less like a menu.

It was also simple. You could make a page that looked considered without thinking about design at all. Any replacement is worth judging against that: does it feel like you, and is it quick to keep current?

A grid, made for projects

makerhandle's Bento template is a grid of tiles: featured projects shown big, with revenue and socials arranged around them. It is one of seven templates (Stack, Showcase, Bento, Minimal, Spotlight, Terminal and Studio), and you can switch between them at any time without redoing your content.

Like Bento, it is hard to get wrong. You add projects, screenshots and a short bio, and the template handles the layout on phones and laptops. The Bento template is part of Pro; Stack, Minimal and Showcase are free.

More than Bento had

makerhandle is built for people who make things, so it adds what makers ask for:

  • Status on every project: Active, Building, Acquired, On hold or Discontinued
  • Verified revenue from Stripe or Shopify, with a check mark and revenue charts
  • a public leaderboard
  • cookie-free analytics with sources, UTM campaigns, locations, devices and project clicks
  • an email subscribe box with double opt-in, or a button to your newsletter
  • a custom domain on Pro with automatic SSL, so the next shutdown only means changing a DNS record

Moving over

If you kept your Bento export, open it and copy your text and links across. In makerhandle, write a short bio, add each project with a screenshot, set its status and pick a template in the live preview editor. A basic page takes a couple of minutes.

Then update every bio that pointed to bento.me. If you go Pro, set up a custom domain first, so this is the last time you have to update every bio. Free covers five projects; Pro is $20 a year. See pricing, or read custom domain for your link in bio.
