Read.cv alternative

A Read.cv alternative for makers

Read.cv closed in 2025. If you used it to show your work, here is a clean, simple home for your projects instead.

What happened to Read.cv

Read.cv was a professional profile and network popular with designers and builders. In January 2025 it announced it had been acquired by Perplexity and began winding down. Users could export their profiles, posts and messages until May 16, 2025.

If your bios or email signature still point to a read.cv profile, those links no longer show your work. It is worth replacing them with a page you control.

It is also a good moment to collect your best work in one place again, while you still remember what you shipped.

What Read.cv did well

Read.cv was loved for its taste. Profiles were clean, typographic and calm, with your work and side projects presented without clutter. It felt more like a well-designed CV than a social feed.

Any replacement should keep that quality: a page that looks considered without you having to design it, and that puts the work first.

Many people also liked that it felt calm, with no growth hacks and no noisy feed. It was a place to put your work and let it speak. A good replacement should feel the same: quiet, tidy and focused on what you have made.

A clean page for your projects

makerhandle gives you that in about two minutes. Write a short Markdown bio, add your projects with descriptions, tags, screenshots and a status (Active, Building, Acquired, On hold or Discontinued), and pick a template.

The Minimal template is type, whitespace and nothing else, and it is free. Studio puts your profile on the left and projects on the right for big screens. Showcase uses big cards with screenshots. There are seven templates in all, and none can be broken by your content.

Your own domain, your own stats

Read.cv's closure is a reminder to keep your link on a domain you own. makerhandle Pro includes a custom domain, such as you.com or work.you.com, with SSL issued and renewed automatically. See custom domain.

You also get analytics with no cookies and no stored IPs, an optional email subscribe box with double opt-in, and, if your projects earn money, verified revenue from Stripe or Shopify. See analytics.

If you like sharing numbers, the optional public stats page lets people see your traffic too.

Getting started

If you exported your Read.cv data, open it and copy your bio and project links across. Add screenshots, set statuses and choose a template in the live preview editor. Then update every bio that pointed to read.cv.

makerhandle is free for five projects and three templates (including Minimal). Pro is $20 a year for unlimited projects, all seven templates, a custom domain and a year of analytics. See pricing or makerhandle for developers.

Two-factor login with an authenticator app and recovery codes keeps the account safe.
