What a good bio does

A bio has three jobs, in this order:

  1. Say who you are and what you do, in words a stranger understands. "Barber in Houston" beats "Artist of the fade."
  2. Give a reason to stay: what people get from following you, or what you are known for.
  3. Point at the link: one clear call to action, like "Book your spot" or "New video every Friday."

The generator builds each idea from those three parts, then trims the middle line when a bio runs over Instagram's 150 character limit.

Make it yours

Treat the ideas as drafts. Swap in the thing only you would say: a neighborhood, a specialty, a number ("10 years cutting hair"), a bit of personality. Change the tone to see a different set, and "Show 10 more" shuffles new combinations.

If you want a word to stand out, the Instagram font generator styles it, but keep most of the bio in plain text so screen readers and search can read it.

The bio's last line sends people to your link, so that page has to deliver: your newest thing first, a way to book or buy, and your other profiles. The link in bio ideas list what to put there for your kind of work, and a makerhandle page holds it all at makerhandle.com/you, free.

Questions

How long can an Instagram bio be?

150 characters, including spaces, line breaks and emoji. The counter under each idea shows how much it uses.

Can I put line breaks in my Instagram bio?

Yes. Copy an idea from here and the line breaks come with it.

Should I use emoji in my bio?

One or two help people scan it. Turn emoji off to see plain versions, which can read more professional.

Is this generator AI?

No. It combines lines written for each kind of work, so it is instant, free and private. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
