How to add the donate button to your site

  1. Paste your link and pick the words, style, size and color.
  2. Copy the HTML.
  3. Paste it in your footer, at the end of your posts or on your about page: people tip right after something helped them.

The button is one plain link with its styles written inline, so it needs no stylesheet, plugin or account, and it looks the same wherever you paste it. If you build with an AI assistant, "Copy for AI" gives you a short prompt with the code in it, ready for Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

Where it works

Any site that lets you add HTML:

  • WordPress: add a Custom HTML block.
  • Squarespace: add a Code block.
  • Wix: Add, Embed code, Embed HTML.
  • Webflow: add an Embed element.
  • Shopify: a Custom Liquid section, or the HTML view of a page.
  • Carrd and Framer: an Embed element.

Email is different: most email apps drop custom code, so use the email signature generator for that.

About the confetti

Tick "Confetti on click" and the snippet adds one small script from makerhandle.com. It bursts a little confetti in your button's color when someone clicks, then follows the link. It sets no cookies, sends nothing anywhere and respects reduced-motion settings. Without the script, or where scripts are blocked, the button is still a working link.

Keep more of each tip

Tip platforms take a cut on top of payment fees; the fee comparison has the numbers. makerhandle Support takes tips and monthly memberships through your own Stripe account, with no makerhandle fee on Pro, and gives you a page for it on your own domain.

Questions

Which tip links does it work with?

Any https link. Buy Me a Coffee, Ko-fi, PayPal, Patreon, Stripe payment links, Venmo, Cash App and GoFundMe are recognized and get matching words and icons.

Can I add it to a GitHub README?

READMEs strip inline styles and scripts, so the button shows as a plain link there. For a README badge, makerhandle Support gives you an image badge.

Does the confetti slow my site down?

No. The script is tiny, loads without blocking the page and only runs when someone clicks the button.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account. Nothing you type is saved.
