How to add it to your email

Click Copy signature, then:

  • Gmail: Settings (the gear), See all settings, General, Signature. Create a new one, paste, and press Save Changes at the bottom.
  • Outlook: Settings, Accounts, Signatures. Paste into a new signature and save. In older desktop Outlook it is File, Options, Mail, Signatures.
  • Apple Mail on a Mac: Mail, Settings, Signatures. Add one with +, paste, and untick "Always match my default message font" so the styles stay.
  • iPhone Mail: Settings, Apps, Mail, Signature. iOS keeps links but may simplify the layout.

If your email app only takes code, use Copy HTML instead.

Built to survive email

Email apps are fussy. Gmail strips stylesheets, Outlook ignores most modern layout and many apps block SVG. So the signature is one table with inline styles and a web-safe font, social profiles are text links rather than icons, and the photo is a normal image at a fixed size.

The photo has to be online already: paste the address of an image on your site (or your makerhandle avatar). Uploaded images in signatures are often blocked or shown as attachments.

A signature has room for a few links. Rather than five, add one button to a page that has it all: your work, booking calendar, products and profiles. A makerhandle page is that page, and with a custom domain it can live at your own address.

Questions

Why do my social links show as words, not icons?

Many email apps block SVG and some block images until the reader allows them. Text links show up for everyone.

My photo does not show. Why?

The image address must start with https and point straight at the image file. Some email apps also hide images until the reader allows them.

Can I use it in Outlook?

Yes. The layout is a table, which Outlook handles well. Paste with Copy signature, not the HTML.

Does it save my details?

No. It runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent or saved.
