Tap Bio Not Working? What Is Going On and How to Fix Your Link

By Dane Dolph · · 3 min read · #Link in bio #Tap Bio #Guides

If your tap.bio link is acting up, or someone told you the link in your bio is broken, here is the short answer: Tap Bio is closing. Its own page says "We're winding down Tap Bio. Your service continues until Oct 31, 2026." So a page that works today will stop working soon, and the fix is the same either way: move your page and change the link.

Move your Tap Bio page in one click before Oct 31: paste your tap.bio link into Import your page. Your links, name, bio, photo and socials come over, and your Tap Bio page is not touched.

What happened to Tap Bio

Tap Bio (tap.bio) was a link in bio for Instagram that organized a page as swipeable cards. By October 2026 its own page, tap.bio/@tap.bio, opened with an announcement: "We're winding down Tap Bio. Your service continues until Oct 31, 2026." It gave a support address (support@tap.bio), a FAQ, and a 50% discount on Link in Profile, another Instagram link tool from the same company. Link in Profile's own site is signed "Tap Bio, Inc.".

Tap Bio did not give a public reason. Reports published in October 2026 said new sign ups had been closed, that pages would be deleted after the closing date and that there was no one-click export.

Down for a moment, or closing?

Before October 31, a tap.bio page that will not load is most likely a normal hiccup:

  1. Check Tap Bio's status page, status.tap.bio, linked from Tap Bio's own page.
  2. Open the page in a browser, not inside Instagram, and reload.
  3. Check that your cards are published. Tap Bio's FAQ has a section called "My cards aren't showing!", which points to the eye icon that publishes each card.

If it works again, use the time you have left to move. After October 31 these fixes stop mattering.

This takes two minutes once you have a new page:

  1. Import your Tap Bio page, or build a new one with any tool.
  2. In the Instagram app, go to your profile and tap Edit profile, then Links.
  3. Tap the tap.bio link, replace it with your new address and save. If you use more than one link, put the new page first: it is the only one people see without a tap.
  4. Open your profile from another account, or a browser you are logged out of, and tap the link to check it.

Instagram changes menus from time to time, so if the labels differ, look for links under Edit profile.

Your bio is the easy part. The old address is also in story highlights, pinned posts, your email signature, TikTok, YouTube and podcast descriptions, newsletters and printed cards. All of them will break at once. How to change your link everywhere it lives has the full checklist, in order of how many people each one reaches.

What you lose, and what you can get back

Your Tap Bio cards held titles, short descriptions, links and images. Our importer brings over every link in order; save card text and images by hand. How to export or save your Tap Bio page walks through it.

Pick where to go next

If you used Tap Bio mainly for links in your Instagram posts, Link in Profile is the closest match and is what Tap Bio itself pointed to. If you want a plain list, Linktree. If you sell, Beacons or Stan Store. If you make things and want to show them, makerhandle. The best Tap Bio alternatives compares them, with prices from each one's own site.
