How to Grow a Newsletter from Your Link in Bio
By Dane Dolph · · 2 min read · #Newsletters #Guides
Your link in bio gets visitors who already like what you post. That makes it one of the best places to grow a newsletter, and one of the most neglected. Most pages bury the newsletter as the sixth button.
Put the signup on the page, not behind a link
Every extra tap loses people. A button that opens your newsletter's signup page asks visitors to tap, wait for a new page, then type. A signup box right on your link in bio asks them only to type.
If your newsletter platform's page converts well and you prefer it, a button is fine. But try the box first.
Say what they get
"Subscribe to my newsletter" is not an offer. Say what arrives and how often:
- "One email a month with what I shipped and what it earned."
- "New tools I build, before I post about them anywhere else."
- "Weekly notes on running a small store."
A specific promise beats a clever one.
Use double opt-in
With double opt-in, new subscribers confirm by clicking a link in an email before they join. It keeps typos and fake addresses off your list, protects your sender reputation, and gives you clear proof of consent. Some people never confirm; you were not going to reach them anyway. See double opt-in explained.
Measure which posts grow the list
Treat each subscribe as a goal in your analytics, then look at subscribes by source and campaign. Tag your links with UTM parameters (see UTM tracking) and you will learn which platform and which kind of post actually grows the list, which is often not the one with the most likes.
Keep the rest of the page focused
A newsletter signup competes with every other link on your page. Keep the page short, put your main project first and the signup close to the top or right after your projects. Remove links nobody clicks; your analytics will tell you which.
