Carrd vs Squarespace Price for a Personal Site

By Dane Dolph · · Updated · 2 min read · #Comparisons #Custom domains

Carrd and Squarespace are both popular for personal and portfolio sites, but they are priced in completely different worlds. Here is the honest comparison for one person who wants a page on their own domain.

Prices are from public pricing pages and 2026 guides, in US dollars. They change and vary by region, so check before you buy.

The yearly cost

Carrd

  • Free: Carrd subdomain, with branding
  • Pro Lite: $9 a year
  • Pro Standard: $19 a year, the tier that adds custom domains, forms and embeds
  • Pro Plus: $49 a year

Squarespace

  • Basic: $19 a month billed annually ($25 month to month), roughly $228 a year
  • Core: about $23 a month billed annually
  • Higher tiers for commerce

For a personal site on your own domain, that is roughly $19 a year on Carrd versus about $228 a year on Squarespace, plus the domain on both.

What the difference buys

Squarespace is a full website platform: many pages, a blog, polished templates, commerce, scheduling and marketing tools, plus support. If you need a real site, it is good value.

Carrd builds one-page sites. You design the layout from a template, and it is wonderfully cheap and fast. It is not trying to be a full CMS.

For a personal page, Carrd is usually enough. For a business site with a blog or shop, Squarespace earns its price.

Where makerhandle fits

makerhandle is narrower than either: a ready-made page for people who make things. You do not design anything. You add projects with a status, screenshot and optional verified revenue, and pick one of seven templates.

  • Free: five projects at makerhandle.com/yourname
  • Pro: $20 a year, with your custom domain and SSL, unlimited projects, every template, a year of cookie-free analytics and no badge

It costs about the same as Carrd Pro Standard. The difference is the job: Carrd gives you a blank page to design; makerhandle gives you a finished maker page with revenue, statuses and analytics built in. See makerhandle vs Carrd.
