# Bio character counter

> Count your bio against each app's limit: TikTok 80, Instagram 150, X 160, Threads 150, Bluesky 256. Keep line breaks and copy it ready to paste.

Write one bio, check it against every app's limit and copy it with the line breaks intact. Starts on TikTok, the tightest at 80 characters.

## Bio limits by app

| App | Bio limit |
| --- | --- |
| TikTok | 80 characters |
| Instagram | 150 characters |
| Threads | 150 characters |
| X | 160 characters |
| Bluesky | 256 characters |
| YouTube channel description | 1,000 characters |

Line breaks, spaces and emoji all count. Write for the tightest one first, TikTok, and the same bio fits everywhere else.

## Writing a bio that fits in 80

Eighty characters is about twelve words. Drop the filler ("Welcome to my page!"), use a symbol where it reads naturally (· or |), and keep one clear line about what you post. The link does the rest: put everything else on the page your bio link opens, and say so ("👇 shop, prices, booking").

For Instagram, the [Instagram bio formatter](https://makerhandle.com/tools/instagram-bio-line-breaks) explains how to keep the blank lines Instagram removes.

## One link, every app

TikTok, Instagram, X and Threads each give you one link in your bio (Instagram allows up to five). Use the same page in all of them, and you only update one place when something changes. Tag each one with the [UTM builder](https://makerhandle.com/tools/utm-builder) to see which app sends the most visitors, or let a page with [built-in stats](https://makerhandle.com/features/analytics) count them for you.

## Questions

### What is the TikTok bio character limit?

80 characters, the shortest of the major apps. It includes spaces and emoji.

### Do line breaks count as characters?

Yes. Each line break counts as one character in every app.

### Why does the app say my bio is too long when the counter says it fits?

Some emoji are several characters joined together, and apps count those differently. Leave a few characters spare.

### Is anything I type saved?

No. The counter runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
