# A Koji alternative for people who make things

> Koji shut down on January 31, 2024 after Linktree bought it. If you still have a dead Koji link somewhere, here is a simple maker page to replace it.

Koji closed in early 2024. If an old Koji link still sits in a bio, a post or a slide deck, here is a calm place to send people instead.

## What happened to Koji

Koji was a link in bio platform built around mini apps: tip jars, shoutouts, paid unlocks and other small tools creators could drop onto their page. In December 2023 **Linktree bought Koji** and said the Koji link in bio product would close on **January 31, 2024**. At the time, Koji said it served more than 700,000 creators.

Koji users were offered a trial of Linktree's paid plan. If you took it, you are probably on Linktree now. If you did not, your Koji link has been dead for a while, and it may still be printed in places you forgot about.

## Find the dead links first

Before choosing a replacement, find where the old link lives. Check:

- your bio on Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and LinkedIn
- pinned posts and highlights
- your email signature and newsletter footer
- slides from talks, podcast show notes and printed cards

Every one of those is a visitor landing on an error page. Fixing them is worth more than any feature comparison.

## A different kind of page

makerhandle is not a remake of Koji. Koji was about apps on a creator page. makerhandle is about **projects**: the products, tools, stores and side projects you have made, each with a status, a screenshot and, if you want, verified revenue from Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad, RevenueCat or Shopify.

If you made things with Koji's tools to earn from fans, makerhandle will feel quieter. If what you really wanted was one link that shows your work clearly, it is a good fit. Pick one of seven templates and the layout is done for you, on phones and laptops.

## Own the address this time

The lesson from Koji, and later [Bento](https://makerhandle.com/compare/bento), is that a link in bio on someone else's domain can disappear. On makerhandle Pro you can put your page on your own domain, like links.yourname.com, with SSL issued and renewed automatically.

If makerhandle ever stopped being right for you, you would change one DNS record and every link you have shared would keep working. That is worth more than any single feature. Pro is **$20 a year**. Read [custom domain for your link in bio](https://makerhandle.com/blog/custom-domain-link-in-bio) for the details.
